Louisiana Black Bear
I will always remember this painting done last October in 2014. With just two colors, I was able to produce the right values to show the depth and shape of a black bear. I'd done it with pencil but never with watercolor. It was also the first time I realized I could lift paint back off of the paper with a paper towel. I did that on the nose to lighten it up.
I have to say I was very impressed with the results.
After this painting I was hooked and wanted to get some "real" watercolors. But being October, I decided it would be a good Christmas present...
