Painting from Google Street View
I opened up an image of random road in North Dakota in Google Earth and used it as a reference for this edition of #draw50states.
It turns out there are a lot of people who use Google Earth and Street View for inspiration. A search on the topic will reveal a ton of artist and their art.
Google Earth is a good resource but I've found that the perspective gets a little wonky and the colors can be washed out or muted. If you find something that catches your eye, you can make it work. I think the trick is to try not to be too literal but use it as inspirarion.
In this painting I used watercolor for the sky and gouache for the rest.
Painted August 2015
